What Makes a Great Teacher? Student Contest

Just how important is a great teacher?
For most of us, the answer is: very important!

Teachers – those dedicated people who educate us and give us the vital knowledge which we need to live our lives.  They encourage, support, discipline and prepare us for the road ahead and now it’s time for us to show them our appreciation.  Teacher Appreciation Week begins on the 6th until the 10th of May 2013, which will be the perfect opportunity for us to show teachers how thankful we are for their dedication.

We asked students (14 – 19 yrs old) to write an essay on their opinion of what makes a great teacher. Energize Students received entries that described what students are looking for in a great teacher that helps to motivate them to excel in school and personal life. If students could have their dream teacher in high school, what characteristics go above and beyond an average teacher?

We want teachers to read these essays so they can make efforts to improve their teaching skills and really hear what students need.
