Student Quotes

"From my point of view I believe that our school should be funded a lot more then what we are being funded now. A majority of students aren’t able to buy a bus fare to school so what makes you think they can afford school lunch or field trips?"

"Say NO to Bullying" Student Contest

“It is estimated that 160,000 children miss school every day due to fear of attack or intimidation by other students." Source: National Education Association

CONGRATULATIONS to the winners of our "Say NO to Bullying" contest! Energize Students took a stand against bullying and so did YOU! We received hundreds of creative videos from students around the nation making a stand against bullying!  We hope you take the time to view these compelling and creative anti-bullying videos submitted by fellow students.

1st Place = Brenda N. from TX
Description:
Bullying is a disease that has gotten worse over the years. It exists in many forms and doesn't choose a specific victim. The only cure to this illness is the mentality of your mind and the choices you and the people around you make to fight this epidemic.

In this narrative short, 17 year old Amy describes two different stories of bullying, one of them being her own, on how the choices you make determines how life chooses your ending.

2nd Place = Christopher W. from MD
Description:
Bullying. That one word is the cause of most strife in school. I, along with many other students, have experienced bullying before at school. This short film displays a similar situation where a high school student is bullied over his hard earned treasure; his new skateboard. The video starts off slow, giving background to the main character before the main bullying scene.
I hope you understand and want to help the message displayed in my film. Thank you.

3rd Place = Clarence W. from PA
Description:
A young man named Lyle faces bullying.

"What Makes Your School ROCK?" Student Contest

Students (14-19 yrs old) were asked to choose from one of five hot topics that we've gathered over the years from our "Your Point of View" student contests. Students wrote essays based on one of the hot topics above, and told us what successful program is currently working in their school that makes their high school experience more valuable to them. A short video synopsis of each essay accompanied all submissions.

There were so many compelling and creative entries portraying a genuine concern and providing a successful program currently working in their school that is helping to combat an educational issue. We hope you enjoy and remember that students have the power to make real positive change!

TOPICS:
* Lack of career-related courses
* Bullying / Meanness
* Lack of curriculum
* Use of technology in schools
* Lack of college preparation
